2024’s In a Violent Nature was hailed as a unique Arthouse take on the slasher genre. Well paced, built with tension so thick you could cut a knife with it, leaving most fans begging for more.
However, not all of us felt the same. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great take on the old trope and anyone willing to deconstructe it so methodically deserves praise, but it hasn’t landed in my weekly or monthly rotation since I first watched it.
Because, y’know, it’s kinda slow…
The trailer for In a Violent Nature 2 seems to suggest that those of us who love our mass murdering supernatural monster bastards with a high body count, won’t have to sit around waiting too long for those numbers to start stacking up.
According to Producer Peter Kuplowsky:
“With this sequel, fans can expect an exponential increase of the ol’ ultraviolence with a distinct hook, but one that still collides with storied slasher tradition.”
So expect a lot more blood and guts from In a Violent Nature 2, which is right up my alley.
Directed by Nathaniel Wilson, written by Chris Nash, and starring Ry Barrett, Lucas Nguyen, Olivia Scriven, Laurie Babin, Fionn Laird, Donald MacLean Jr, and Evan Marsh, In a Violent Nature 2 is out soon, via the Independent Film Company and Shudder.
