Some friendships don’t fade. They rot, get dug back up, and start causing problems for the entire neighbourhood.
That’s the premise coming off of My Best Friend’s Dead, an indie horror title that’s taking the whole ride or die concept and stretching it well past the point where it should’ve stayed buried. The film is set to land on Digital on May 26th via Lionsgate, and the newly released trailer makes it very clear that sometimes grief makes people do the most dangerous things.
At the centre of it all are Olivia and Aurora, best friends with a bond that apparently doesn’t recognise small inconveniences like death. After Aurora’s murder, Olivia retreats from the world, isolating herself in a quiet New England town that looks like it hasn’t had a good day in years. But instead of processing loss in a healthy, non-demonic way, she decides to bring her friend back.
Because that always goes well.
What she gets isn’t exactly a clean reunion. The resurrection comes with complications. As men begin disappearing around the farmhouse, it becomes clear that whatever Olivia pulled back didn’t come alone, and it definitely isn’t interested in keeping a low profile.
Directed by Bruce Wemple and written by his Anna Shields, who also stars alongside Caitlin Duffy, Grant Schumacher, and Catharine Daddario, My Best Friend’s Dead promises to bring Demon chomping horror, and lots of blood and gore, when it hits our screens on May 26th.
