Getting your life savings stolen is bad.Turning it into a full-blown revenge comedy? Thatโ€™s at least a productive coping mechanism.

Hacked: A Double Entendre of Rage Fueled Karma is gearing up for a limited theatrical run this May before hitting VOD and digital on June 2nd, and the trailer looks like itโ€™s been powered entirely by caffeine, spite, and someone shouting โ€œDonโ€™t think, just act!”

Front and centre is Chandler Riggs, playing against type as Rob ‘The Chameleon’ Huberton, a hacker who decides that ruining peoples lives is a fun hobby. Specifically, the lives of the Rumble family, who move into their dream home only to have their entire financial existence yanked out from under them by a guy with a keyboard and apparently zero hobbies outside chaos.

Unfortunately for him, this isnโ€™t a story about quiet despair and paperwork. The Rumbles take it personally, very personally, and pivot straight into revenge mode, plotting a takedown that will leave him wishing he had never touched a keyboard.

The film pulls from real-life events experienced by director Shane Brady and producer Emily Zercher, which explains the very specific flavour of ‘this feels too weird to be completely made up.’ Brady, who previously directed Breathing Happy, frames the project as a way of turning a tough situation into something communal and, crucially, entertaining, because if youโ€™re going through it, you might as well make it loud and violent.

Joining the cast are Owen Atlas, Collin Thompson, Richard Riehle, Katelyn Nacon, Brady himself, and, because why the hell not, NHL Hall of Famer Phil Esposito. Also in the mix are Augie Duke, Hugh Scott, Brittney Escalante, Glenn Stanton, and Mia Castillo.

Riggs has described the film as a ‘constant stream of insanity,’ which tracks. The trailer doesnโ€™t so much build tension as throw it at the wall repeatedly to see what sticks, and the answer appears to be: most of it.

No quiet healing arcs here. No wistful lessons about the dangers of the internet. Just a family that got burned, a hacker who picked the wrong target, and revenge that is cranked up to the point of no return.
