Helsinkiโ€™s rising Metalcore wrecking crew Ashes of Perishing have dropped a new single, Rapture, alongside a music video, and itโ€™s not exactly bringing sunshine with it.

Released via Inverse Records, the track pushes the band further into darker territory, with Rapture described in no uncertain terms as ‘a journey deeper into the Void, devoid of all light and hope’.

Subtle? Not even slightly. Effective? Absolutely.

The new material marks another shift in the bandโ€™s evolving sound, leaning towards heavier and more oppressive while still holding onto the melodic edge thatโ€™s been part of their identity since day one. Itโ€™s less ‘build you up’ and more ‘drag you somewhere uncomfortable and beat the shite out of you’, which, letโ€™s be honest, is exactly what you want from this kind of thing.

Formed in late 2021, Ashes of Perishing came together as a five-piece with a shared mission: make emotionally charged, heavy music that actually hits. The current lineup features Philipp on bass, Joonas and Valtteri on guitars, Olli on drums, and vocalist Oskar, who joined in 2024 and brought a sharper, more aggressive vocal presence into the mix.

The band are also set to make their festival debut this summer at Tuska Festival, which feels like the natural habitat for something this loud and this unapologetically bleak.

Still early in their run, but clearly not interested in playing it safe, Ashes of Perishing are pushing forward with a sound thatโ€™s getting nastier, darker, and more defined with each release.
