Finnish Death Metal outfit Hautajaisyö are squeezing the life out of their latest release, and doing it the loud, sweaty, ‘someone nearly knocked over the camera’ kinda way.

The band dropped their fifth album Surun paino back on March 20th, via Inverse Records, and now they’ve followed it up with their first-ever official live music video, capturing the title track in its natural habitat: onstage, with zero safety net.

Filmed during their album release show on March 27th at the Iisalmi Youth Centre, the video for Surun paino (paired with Hiljaisuuden maa) has that full DIY spirit. We’re talking three GoPros, one roaming camera, and the kind of setup where if something goes wrong, it just becomes part of the footage. No polish, no overthinking, just the band, the noise, and whatever chaos happens in between.

The clip also opens with a brand-new live intro created by Sami Lustig, giving a glimpse into how the band are shaping their current live set before the main event kicks in.

According to the band, the decision to film came down to timing, having never done a proper live video before, their hometown release show felt like the right moment to capture it. And rather than dressing it up, they’ve kept it raw as balls, matching the ferocity of the album itself.

Surun paino already marked another step forward for Hautajaisyö, and this live video feels like the aftershock, less about presentation, more about documenting the insanity while it’s still ringing out.
