Finnish Blackened Death Metal band Se, Josta Ei Puhuta are opening the gates of Hell again, whether youโ€™re ready or not.

The band will release their fourth studio album Syvyyden portit on saatava auki on May 29th, via Inverse Records, and theyโ€™ve just unleashed the third single, Muinaiset jumalat kuuntelevat.

The track is a slower, more suffocating piece, less about explosive chaos, more about drowning in claustrophobia. It builds gradually, stacking layers until it feels like somethingโ€™s closing in from all sides. The band describe it as a kind of trial: a moment where darkness stops being something to run from and becomes something you face head-on, or kneel before.

Lyrically, itโ€™s all about surrender, not the peaceful kind, but the ‘this decision is final and something ancient is watching’ variety. No comforting answers, no easy exits. Just the sense that once you step forward, you can never step back.

Formed in Iisalmi back in 2007, the band have taken a winding road to get here. Early material pulled from Hardcore Punk and Death Metal, but over time that sound has been reshaped with Black Metal elements creeping further into the mix. Releases like Ne, joista ei puhuta and Musta, kylmรค, syvรค ja samea laid the groundwork, while 2022โ€™s Gehenna marked a full return after a long pause.

Now, with their fourth album on the horizon, Se, Josta Ei Puhuta sound locked into a heavier, more deliberate approach, one that trades speed for atmosphere.

Muinaiset jumalat kuuntelevat is out now. The gates fully open May 29th. Step through if you like, just donโ€™t expect anything on the other side to be welcoming.
