Wooden Shadow has dropped a new EP, Age of Tree, out now via Inverse Records. The project, helmed entirely by Jeremia Ponto, sticks to its lone-wolf formula: every instrument, every vocal, every note handled by the same pair of hands. No bandmates, just one guy in the sonic woods building something that shifts between Melodic Death, Black Metal, and Folk textures like itโs changing seasons mid-song.
According to Ponto, Age of Tree runs the full emotional gauntlet, pride, celebration, sadness, rage, and even moments of calm, though calm here still feels like something unpleasant has just crawled out of the undergrowth. Itโs a five-track release, but the scope is bigger, with each piece pulling in different shades of atmosphere and intensity.
Wooden Shadow has been active since 2020, rooted in Ylรถjรคrvi and built around themes of nature, mortality, and the less friendly corners of the human mind. The new material continues to blur genre lines, weaving folk elements into a darker, more aggressive framework without losing that melodic core.
Age of Tree is out now on streaming platforms.
