Dark Atlantic and Indie Rights have officially brought Strawstalker to North American VOD, the latest found footage offering from writer-director George Henry Horton (Project Dorothy). The film dives into the campier side of horror, following Henry and Haley, a pair of fame-hungry content creators who move into Oak Bridge, a perfect Los Angeles neighborhood that turns out to be anything but influencer-friendly.โ
The plot kicks off when the couple spots a theatrical scarecrow lurking behind their hedge. While Henry, who lives his life as a carefully curated lie, assumes itโs just a viral prank, Haley keeps the cameras rolling as things take a supernatural turn. They soon learn that the creature specifically hunts those who aren’t what they seem, turning their dream life into a high-stakes nightmare where the neighborhood is always watching.
โHorton, who also stars in the film alongside Branika Scott and Gary Kasper, wanted to give the often-overlooked scarecrow its moment in the spotlight. He describes the movie as having a campfire quality, balancing genuine unsettling moments with the absurdity of influencer culture. Itโs a film that knows exactly what it is, a fun, ridiculous ride that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still delivering the creeps.โ
Produced alongside Ryan Scaringe, Strawstalker is available now to rent or buy on Digital HD platforms, including Prime Video. If you’re into found footage that plays with the ‘fake it ’til you make it’ lifestyle, this one is definitely worth a watch.
