Irish duo BalashToth have returned with Self = Dark Side, the second single from their upcoming full-length debut, Equation II โ€“ The Antithesis of Life and Free Will. Arriving June 12th via a collaboration between Not-Even-Music, Metal ร–r Die, and Pest Records, the track follows the momentum of their previous release, รท Misunderstanding.

Musically, the new single leans into a rhythmic, old-school groove, anchored by the kind of classic Melodic Death Metal chorus that feels both nostalgic and massive. It is a track that prioritizes atmosphere and hook without sacrificing the genre’s inherent heaviness. Lyrically, it dives into the grim machinery of human desire, the idea that our endless cycle of consumption and wanting eventually erodes the self, leaving nothing behind but an expanding void.

The project is the brainchild of Balazs Toth, the former Casketgarden guitarist who relocated to Ireland in 2012. What started as a technical YouTube channel dedicated to mixing guides and riff challenges has evolved into a fully realized recording entity. This new album marks a significant step up from their previous two EPs, featuring guest contributions from Adam Toth on Moog synthesisers and viola, adding a distinct, experimental layer to their melodic death metal foundation.

For the collectors who still value physical media, Equation II will be available in both Jewel Case and a hand-numbered Digipack CD limited to just 100 copies.
