Fresh off its debut at the Cannes Film Festival, the first teaser trailer for the sci-fi thriller Hope has arrived, showcasing the alien entities terrorizing a secluded community. The South Korean feature is written and directed by Na Hong-jin, acclaimed filmmaker of The Wailing, and has been picked up by distributor Neon for a domestic theatrical run this autumn.

The plot centers on Hope Harbor, a rural coastal town thrown into panic when a bizarre creature begins devastating the area. The local police chief, played by Hwang Jung-min, teams up with an officer, portrayed by Squid Game breakout Hoyeon, to investigate the carnage. Meanwhile, a band of local woodsmen venture into the forest to hunt the anomaly, only to realize they have become the targets. The narrative quickly expands past a simple monster hunt, exploring how paranoia, human error, and misperceptions can trigger a chain reaction that escalates into a massive cosmic disaster.

The high-profile international cast also features Zo In-sung, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender. Production for the project was handled by Na, Saemi Kim, and Saerom Kim under the Forged Films banner, with executive producer Jeongin Hong and financial backing from Plus M Entertainment.
