Italian Death Metal outfit Membrance have officially launched their new full-length album, Resa Marciana, available now. The record draws its foundation from classic old-school Stockholm Death Metal, while expanding its sonic palette to incorporate elements of Groove, Thrash, and Norwegian Black Metal.

What defines the release is its deeply localized, identity-driven concept. The album is performed entirely in the Venetian dialect, with the lyrical content digging into unsettling lagoon folklore, historical tales from the islands of Venice, and bleak commentary on the modern city’s decline. This is mirrored musically by a stark balance of aggressive riffs and shadowy, atmospheric passages.

Frontman Davide Lazzarini penned all the music and lyrics for the project, with the exception of the final track, which serves as a heavy arrangement of a traditional Venetian folk piece. The album was entirely self-produced by the band, with tracking taking place across Venice and Rome during the spring and summer of 2025. Final mixing and mastering duties were completed by Stefano Morabito at 16th Cellar Studio in Rome. Rounding out the concept is the album’s cover art, painted by artist Sheila Franco, which portrays a distorted Venetian lion sinking alongside the city to symbolize a dying Venice.
