Finnish modern Melodic Metal unit Northern Genocide have released their brand new single Epilogi through Inverse Records, offering a first taste of their upcoming, as-yet-untitled third studio album slated for release later this year. The band says that the track centers heavily on the theme of total renewal, describing it as an aggressive, fiery purging of a past burdened by pain and regret to set the stage for a completely fresh beginning.

The single marks the dawn of a new era for the Helsinki-founded outfit, following the mutual and amicable departure of longtime vocalist Tommi Salonen last year. New frontman Joni Parkkinen has stepped in to handle vocal duties for the forthcoming record, which the band began tracking immediately after the lineup change.

Initially formed as a two-man Electronic and Metal home studio project by schoolmates Pyry and Rainer back in 2010, Northern Genocide transitioned into a live touring act in Lahti, delivering their Atlantis demo in 2014 and the Planet Asylum EP in 2015. The band achieved wider recognition with their 2019 full-length debut, Genesis vol. 666, when its sole Finnish-language track, Ikiruoste, went viral on Finland’s Spotify charts. After shifting their sound toward standard Melodic Metal and solidifying their rhythm section with the addition of rhythm guitarist Jussi Pulliainen, bassist Arto Viitanen, and drummer Leo Korhonen, the band released their sophomore record, The Point of No Return, in early 2024. Now fully revitalized with Parkkinen at the mic, the band’s new single Epilogi is out now on all streaming platforms.
