Epic melodic death metal ambassadors Ulthima have announced the approach of their highly anticipated sophomore album with the release of their new lead single, White Raven. Originally bridging the distance from Monterrey, Mexico, to Helsinki, Finland, the band firmly established themselves within the competitive Finnish metal scene following their 2021 debut, Symphony of the Night. This latest track offers the first crucial glimpse into their second full-length record, which is officially scheduled to land in the autumn of 2026.
White Raven explores the profound psychological journey from fearing death to accepting it as a natural part of existence. Guided by the mythological imagery of the white raven, the song reflects on mortality, portraying death not as a definitive end, but as a passage into eternity. Guitarist and composer Ric notes that the songwriting process was entirely organic, rapidly developing into a full-length piece from just a single, small riff.
Ulthima deliberately stepped away from the overly polished, perfected production styles that dominate modern metal. Instead, the band embraced a much more organic studio sound designed to keep the human element intact while amplifying the intensity, power, and atmosphere of the music. The resulting single stands as their most authentic work to date, capturing a heavy, honest, and completely alive performance that sets a commanding tone for their upcoming autumn release.
