Finnish melodic death metal outfit Frostbite Terror are set to release their debut album, Into The Frozen Depths, on July 24th, via Inverse Records. To mark the announcement, the Turku-based band has released a music video for their gloomy new single, Maan multa, featuring guest lead vocals from Jukka Laaksonen (Restriction Line, Kaukaisuus). Stepping away from standard genre tropes, the track serves as a mid-tempo plunge into traditional, 2000s-style Finnish metal, utilizing the bleakness of the local landscape to ground its visuals.

The track moves through an agonizingly oppressive atmosphere, drawing directly from national melancholy and the complexities of the Finnish psyche. Rather than delivering a straightforward patriotic anthem, the lyrics examine sisu (perseverance), questioning whether a stubborn nature simply leads to unnecessary suffering and repeated historical mistakes.

“The song comes together from parts delving deeper into Finnish melancholy,” explains composer Olli Kuure. “Right from the start we had a vision for Jukka Laaksonen to take up the lead vocals. You can hear and feel the pain from Jukka’s vocals, leading into the song’s theme.”

Lyricist Otso Turunen adds that while the topic is serious, the video injects enough humor to keep it from feeling preachy. The result is a heavy, honest glimpse into the band’s identity ahead of their full-length summer release.
