Greek heavy rock visionaries Villagers of Ioannina City have announced their boldest work to date with their upcoming conceptual album, Venceremos, set for release on September 18th, via Napalm Records. Accompanying the announcement is a first taste of the record’s dystopian sci-fi narrative with the release of the lead single, Ghosts in the sky. The track introduces a world shaped by control and resistance, beautifully blending heavy rock, progressive metal, and distinct Hellenic folk textures.

On the thematic weight behind the single, the band reveals:

“Ghosts in the sky is the vessel that carries all our hopes and dreams. It is a call to stand together in the face of fear, where hope travels like a distant star and freedom is worth every fight. It’s about defiance, unity, and believing in change, even when everybody says it won’t come.”

A foreboding darkness awaits in Ghosts in the sky. A haunting, enveloping atmosphere of ritualistic psychedelia, epic guitars, and traditional instrumentation swells and hurriedly subsides as the pace increases and intensity rises. As the heavy, progressive chaos ebbs and flows through its grand cinematic narrative, its ferocious brutality leaves absolutely nothing in its wake, setting a massive stage for the full-length release this September.
