Trondheim-based metal outfit Paradogmata have returned with Kråkevisa (Bløtkakeversjon), marking the first official recorded output from their updated lineup. Since their formation, the group has steadily mutated far beyond their melodic thrash roots, pulling in black, death, doom, and progressive elements. This latest release serves as a showcase for that broader sonic palette, following the arrival of guitarist Øystein Iversen and drummer Kim Sætre.

The track takes a well-known traditional Norwegian folk song and completely mutates it into a fast-paced, blackened metal onslaught. To execute this specific collision of styles, the band brought in guest musician Ingvild “Sareeta” Strønen Johannesen (Ram-Zet, ex-Funeral) to contribute traditional Hardanger fiddle and violin. Layered with backing folk vocals, the arrangement injects a haunting, regional heritage directly into the band’s aggressive rhythmic assault.

This single acts as the opening salvo for a busy release schedule. A new EP titled Necrosian Tastings will drop later in July, acting as a direct preview for a full-length album, Necrosian Litanies, slated for early next year. Interestingly, the upcoming EP will feature two alternate takes on this track: a stripped-back, darker Kneipp version devoid of folk elements, and a Folkesang version where the traditional fiddle and vocals take center stage. The newly released Bløtkake version occupies the middle ground between those two extremes.

This new phase follows the momentum of their late debut album, Endetid, which saw lead single The Seeds of Greed surpass 100,000 streams on Spotify. Having already road-tested the new material to strong crowd reactions over the past few months, the band is positioned to make a significant impact with their upcoming multi-release campaign.
