Italian deathcore heavyweight Drown In Sulphur have officially joined the roster of German extreme metal specialist label Noble Demon. Marking their debut for the label and showcasing a completely revamped lineup, the Milanese outfit has unleashed their ferocious new single, New Moon Rising on Florence. The track offers a definitive glimpse into the band’s raw sonic direction ahead of their upcoming EP, Strix, which is set to drop on September 11th on all major streaming platforms.

The new material represents a deliberate, calculated shift for the band, who have stripped back the expansive symphonic layers of their recent past to capture a less produced, more hardcore-driven sound. The single blends the nostalgic, high-velocity fury of MySpace-era deathcore with grim, blackened undertones. Thematically, the track acts as the centerpiece for the broader narrative of the Strix EP, which dives into esoteric, biblical, and dystopian contexts while heavily intertwining Masonic imagery. The conceptual storytelling uses the backdrop of Florence for a dark ritual revolving around the mythological “Strix”โ€”the ancient nocturnal bird of ill omenโ€”signaling a rebellious vision where ancient horrors resurface in modern times.

Formed in Milan in 2014, Drown In Sulphur quickly shook the global underground metal scene, securing millions of streams with early breakthrough singles An Epilogue to the Arrogant and Blackwind. Through a relentless creative fire, the project has dropped a string of powerful full-lengths including Sulphur Cvlt (2021), Dark Secrets Of The Soul (2024), and the rebellious Vengeance (2025). This new era signals a focused reinvention born out of a renewed hunger to blur the lines between theological dread and unfiltered sonic violence.

“Following our recent lineup changes, we entered a period of deep reflection,” the band shares. “We knew we needed a change, a return to something rawer and more grounded in our origins, yet adapted for the modern era. We stripped back the symphonic layers to let the pure, unfiltered aggression take over. The result is a track that feels incredibly organic and devastating. We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Noble Demon Records, a new growing and professional label, and we can’t wait to embark on this new adventure.”

“Iโ€™ve been following this band for quite a while since personally I adore Deathcore and Drown In Sulphurโ€™s sound is outstanding,” adds Noble Demon CEO Patrick Walch. “Intense and unique, right in your face and the right match for everyone who digs Death Metal, Metalcore, Modern Metal and anything in between. Check out their impressive catalog and watch out for our pre-save links since new music is already around the corner.โ€
