Kalamazoo, Michigan-based four-piece Aspen Sanctum will release their debut full-length album, To Withhold the Need to Conquer, on August 7th, 2026. The independent digital launch will be accompanied by a physical cassette edition released via Fiadh Productions.

Formed by Jared Koons, Jeremy Cronk, Tim Wicklund, and Bryan Neterer, the group intersects atmospheric black metal with post-hardcore dynamics and Midwestern Americana. Open chord progressions and driving basslines anchor the material, taking thematic cues from the changing seasons and natural geography of the Great Lakes and Northwoods regions.

The album’s material was written from November 2024 through December 2025 before being tracked in early 2026.
