Before Kharon became the album released last year, its songs existed in a much rougher form. The Medea Project have now gone back to those early demos, rehearsal recordings and writing sessions for Kharon: Forbearance.

Those recordings capture a more brutal and cavernous incarnation of the material, preserving the sound of the band while the songs were still taking shape. Rather than allowing those early recordings to disappear into the history of the album, The Medea Project have collected them for a release of their own.

The result is less a companion release than a look behind the curtain at the album’s evolution, preserving a version of the band’s sound that might otherwise have remained confined to rehearsal rooms and hard drives.

Kharon: Forbearance will be released on September 7 through BDB Studios on limited-edition CD and digital formats. The release also features a darkened and distressed reworking of the original Kharon artwork by Daniele Serra.
