Phlefonyaar are set to return with Encyclopaedia Sociopathica, their first full-length album since 2020’s We Rest When The Crows Feast, bringing together doom, death, drone and industrial sludge across their latest collection of dark and abrasive material.

The duo of Jim Males and Paul March have been developing Phlefonyaar’s particular brand of heavy music since the late 1990s, initially working through a series of demos before releasing the Kissing Carrion EP in 2016. Their debut full-length, Septic, Bitter And Hardbitten, followed in 2017, with We Rest When The Crows Feast arriving three years later.

Six years on from that second album, Encyclopaedia Sociopathica continues the band’s exploration of the more uncomfortable corners of heavy music, combining the weight of doom and death metal with drone, industrial textures and sludge. The album sees Males and March continuing the approach they have developed together across decades, with the new material once again drawing on the darker and stranger aspects of the human psyche.

Encyclopaedia Sociopathica will be released on September 18 as an independent release.
