German death metal band Heretics have released their new single Cerberus (Terzet for a Hellhound), the second preview of their forthcoming album, Of Poets and Prophets.

Based on Cerberus, the three-headed guardian of the entrance to the underworld, the song draws on references to ancient Greek texts and centres on the creature’s position between the world of the living and the realm of the dead.

The three-headed imagery also extends to the vocals, with Daniel Klinteberg of Heretic Legion joining Fabian Marx and Tim Lobner on the track.

The single is accompanied by a lyric video created by Andrea Mantelli, featuring artwork produced for the release.
