Greek progressive metal band Mother Of Millions have shared their second single, The Innocent, from their upcoming album, T, due out on September 11 through ViciSolum Productions.
The song reimagines the Greek myth of Aegeus from the perspective of a lonely figure waiting by the sea for his son to return. Mother Of Millions connect that ancient tragedy with the experiences of refugees and displaced people caught up in the realities of modern warfare.
T explores themes of war, death and eternity, drawing lyrical connections between 19th-century American poets and 20th-century Greek poets. The albumโs central idea examines the cycle of conflicts imposed by those in power and endured by those left to suffer their consequences.
Musically, the record combines crushing riffs and thunderous rhythms with expansive atmospheric layers. The band describe the material as balancing the devastation of conflict with a stubborn sense of hope.
โT is the endless cycle of wars declared by the powerful and died in by the poor,โ the band explain. โWe shaped these songs from the echoes of screams and laments, but also from hope.โ
The Innocent is available now on major streaming platforms, offering another preview of T ahead of its arrival.
