Anyone who caught Feed Me or Hosts knows co-director Richard Oakes doesn’t bother with polite, cozy British drama. He makes nasty, uncomfortable genre flicks. His latest, Remembrance, co-directed with writer-star James Matthew Denton, heads straight to UK digital platforms on 19 October via Reel2Reel Films.

Things kick off in a hospital bed where Grace (Alyssa Haymor) wakes up from a week-long coma following a brutal kidnapping. Her brain is completely wiped, no name, no background, and zero memory of who snatched her.

With her captor still roaming around outside, lead cop Isaac Phelps (Denton) stashes her in a secluded safe house out in the English countryside. Sticking a deeply traumatised amnesiac inside an isolated house goes about as well as you’d expect. Grace gets battered by severe PTSD, violent hallucinations, and fractured memory loops, leaving everyone involved incapable of telling what’s real and what’s just her mind short-circuiting.

Producer Marc Zammit (Jitters, Witch) is attached, and given the team behind it, this isn’t going to be a tea-and-biscuits detective story. It’s a bleak, head-wrecking descent into trauma that ends with a heavy boot to the teeth.
