Finnish melodic black metal outfit i Helvete have shared Hiljaisuuteen, the second track taken from their upcoming third album Halla, which arrives on November 6th.
The track follows previous single Nรคlkรคtalvi, which picked up early attention from Metal Hammer and several underground playlists.
According to frontman and guitarist Aleksi Mรคkelรค, Hiljaisuuteen took considerably longer to finish than the band originally expected. The opening sections had been completed for some time, but the rest of the song refused to fall into place until Mรคkelรค picked up an acoustic guitar and started playing a flamenco-inspired riff at his kitchen table.
That apparently did the trick.
โHiljaisuuteen had one of the longest composition processes. The opening sections were finished for a very long time, but completing the song proved difficult. Eventually a flamenco-inspired riff on acoustic guitarโplayed at the kitchen tableโopened the path to finishing the song. With the saxophones and the closing solo, the track ended up becoming one of my personal favorites of everything weโve done so far.โ
Flamenco guitar and saxophones arenโt exactly standard black metal ingredients, but thatโs what makes Hiljaisuuteen worth checking out.
Weโll find out how it all fits together when Halla arrives on November 6th.
