Director Ron Krauss is bringing his new psychological thriller Wounds to Screamfest LA for its World Premiere on October 8, starring Jack Kilmer and Paris Jackson alongside the ever-present Eric Roberts.

Shot on 35mm film, the movie is being billed as a throwback to classic practical-effects horror. Kilmer plays Caleb Castle, a horror-obsessed makeup artist desperately trying to keep a dying studio afloat.

Then he witnesses a brutal murder and comes up with the brilliant, totally sane idea that the best way to make his special effects look realistic is to forget the latex and start using real-world violence for inspiration.

Because why bother with fake blood when you can just turn actual crime scenes into your creative department?

Wounds makes its World Premiere at Screamfest LA on October 8.
