Italian black metal outfit Canticum Diaboli will release their new full-length album Compendium Horribilis on November 11 via Ad Noctem Records.

The title translates as horrible collection, which seems fitting for an eight-track assortment of macabre tales from Italian history and folklore. The subject matter ranges from the execution of Giordano Bruno and the 1527 Sack of Rome to Venetian vampire legends, all delivered through Italian and Latin vocals.

Musically, the band take their cues from Swedish black metal, combining arcane guitar melodies with blast-beat-heavy aggression in the vein of Watain and Dark Funeral. Guitarist Apostata also handled the artwork, which draws on the look of 16th-century prints.
