Finnish melodic death metal outfit Nemecic have released Petrol and Spark, the third and final advance single from their upcoming EP.

Hailing from Jyväskylä, the band lean into a softer, more atmospheric approach on the new track compared to their previous output. The single features lead clean vocals from guitarist Tuomo Salonen, previously featured on tracks such as The Crowing of Swans and The Chatter of Teeth, supported by growls and harmonies from vocalist Aki Salonen.

Lyrically, Petrol and Spark examines themes surrounding the end of existence. Commenting on the track’s direction, the band shared:

“Petrol and Spark is different from what people are used to hearing from us in many ways. If our previous single, Mysterion, was perhaps the heaviest song we’ve written to date, this time we’re heading in the opposite direction. By our standards, you could even describe this one as a ballad.”

The release is accompanied by a cinematic music video directed, written, and filmed by Aki Suomela, centered on themes of loss, longing, and mythic imagery.

Petrol and Spark is available now across digital platforms.
