Multi-instrumentalist Seth Metoyer has dropped Filed Down, the lead single from his upcoming alternative metal album, The Virus Of Life.

Following his death/grind outfit Mangled Carpenter and 2025’s Through The Vanishing Point, the new project explores early-2000s alternative rock textures, combining heavy instrumentation with industrial rhythms and melancholic melodies.

Filed Down addresses the pressure to conform, societal expectations, and the silent erosion of personal identity over time. Discussing the concept behind the track, Metoyer shared:

“Filed Down is probably the heaviest track on the album. It’s about the pressure to conform and what happens when you spend your life adjusting yourself to fit other people’s expectations. Iโ€™ve been thinking a lot over the last couple of years about the ways life gradually reshapes us. How our experiences, relationships, disappointments, and the expectations of others can slowly wear away the edges of who we are.”

Filed Down is out now, with The Virus Of Life scheduled for release on December 4th via Broken Curfew Records and Rottweiler Records.
