Filmhub is unleashing Basic Psych onto digital platforms April 21, and if you thought opening up to your therapist was stressful, this one’s about to make you reconsider everything.
Directed by Melissa Martin and starring two-time Tony winner Michael Cerveris alongside David Conrad (The Ghost Whisperer), the film dives straight into the kind of nightmare scenario that makes professional ethics feel like a loaded trap. Because when your patient is a paranoid murderer and confidentiality says “keep quiet,” things are going to get messy. Fast.
At the centre of the chaos is a psychiatrist who finds himself trapped in a tightening game of cat-and-mouse, as his sessions spiral from uncomfortable to outright dangerous. And when the threats start bleeding into his personal life? That’s when the couch stops being the safest place in the room.
Filmed in and around Pittsburgh with a strong local crew, Basic Psych has already made its mark as the opening night film at the Three Rivers Film Festival, so it’s not just playing games, it’s here to mess with your head properly.
Landing on Apple TV, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home, this is one for anyone who enjoys their thrillers tight, tense, and just a little bit unhinged.
