Neon has dropped the final trailer for Exit 8 ahead of its theatrical release this Friday, April 10th, and it doesn’t just get under your skin, it sets up camp and starts toasting satanic marshmallows.
Directed by Genki Kawamura and based on the video game by Kotake Create, Exit 8 traps Kazunari Ninomiya in what might be the world’s worst commute: an endless, spotless subway corridor with rules that sound simple until your brain starts melting.
Spot something off? Turn back.
See nothing weird? Keep going.
Miss one detail? Congratulations, you’re back at square one, or quite possibly very, very dead.
The final trailer leans hard into the psychological spiral. Commuters start acting just a little too wrong, like NPCs who’ve realised they’re in a nightmare and decided to make it everyone’s problem. The visuals get increasingly unhinged, flashing between sterile normality and full-blown fever dream, including a blink-and-you’ll-regret-it glimpse of a rat-human hybrid that looks like it’s going to be haunting my nightmares for weeks on end.
The film made its world premiere in the Midnight section of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, where it reportedly pulled an eight-minute standing ovation, no small feat for a movie that seems designed to make you question whether you remembered to blink correctly.
Exit 8 arrives in theaters this Friday.
Just make sure you’re paying attention… to everything.
