The Butcher’s Blade opens on corruption, betrayal, and a man with no clean way out. What follows is violence. Lots and lots of wonderful violence.
Landing on Digital May 12, 2026 via Well Go USA, this period martial arts thriller from Liu Wenpu looks like it’s running on steel, speed, and a complete disregard for anyone standing in the wrong place.
The story follows Xue Buyi, a by-the-book constable who gets thrown straight into the fire when disaster relief funds vanish and he’s pinned for the crime. With his name dragged through the mud and no way out, he ends up working with a covert group that doesn’t protect the innocent, they protect whoever can afford the bill.
Caught between clearing his name and keeping his conscience intact, Xue takes the only option left: push back hard enough to expose the people pulling the strings. And if that means carving a path through a small army, then so be it.
The cast is led by Liu Fengchao, alongside Yuan Fufu and Chunyu Shanshan, while the action side of things is handled by a team that clearly didn’t come here to mess around, Xiaohui Du, Qiankun Li, Yuejun Liu, and Wei Zhang.
If the trailer is anything to go by, expect fast blades, harder hits, and the kind of fights where nobody walks away with all their ljmbs intact.
The Butcher’s Blade arrives May 12.
