Finnish melodic death metal group Noumena have released Tyhjyys (The Void), the third preview single from their upcoming studio album, Maanääri, scheduled for release this August. The single arrives alongside an accompanying self-directed music video.

The track pairs acoustic-led passages with heavy guitar arrangements, structured around a distinct three-vocalist dynamic developed during the band’s rehearsal sessions. Lyrically, Tyhjyys examines themes of isolation and emotional distance, written jointly by guitarist Markus Hirvonen and bassist Hannu Savolainen.

Guitarist Markus Hirvonen details the origin of the track’s core motif:

“The acoustic intro riff was born during a sleepless night when I let the feeling of emptiness and sorrow flow directly into the guitar. While jamming alone in my house, the phrase ‘Tyhjyydessä kaikuu taas’ (In the void, it echoes again) came to mind, and the whole song and its parts began to build around it as if by itself.”

The accompanying music video was conceptualized and produced by guitarist Ville Lamminaho, maintaining the band’s independent approach to their visual identity following their previous video, Surunkehrä.

Tyhjyys is available now on all major digital streaming platforms, with the full album Maanääri set to follow in August.
