Sunday Night’s Main Event is a strange beast. It’s not quite a weekly show, not quite a PLE, it kind of live somewhere in between. But when you get a night that throws up a few surprises, some good wrestling and the occasional moment of absolute fucking stupidity, there’s still plenty to enjoy.
Here are five things I liked.

Lil Yachty Puts In a Good Performance
Well. There’s a sentence I never thought I’d write.
Considering how WWE has always liked to put celebrities in matches they don’t belong in, I expected this to be a car crash. However, I was wrong.
Lil Yachty put in a good performance against Baron Corbin, including a very sweet-looking Hurricanrana, while taking quite a few lumps along the way. He even managed to survive the five-minute stipulation so Trick Williams could get his title shot.
He did this by punching Corbin in the nuts as the clock ticked down, which will always get a laugh out of me.
Was this on the level of the Johnny Knoxville/Sami Zayn WrestleMania bout? Not even close. Was it as good as Bad Bunny’s showing? Again, no. But Lil Yachty did incredibly well and, more importantly, kept me interested in a match I had absolutely zero interest in when the bell rang.

Baron Corbin Could Legitimately Kill You
Baron Corbin is a legit martial arts badass.
He’s a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has won major medals in Masters divisions at competitions such as the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and Jiu-Jitsu World League.
I did not know this. Now that I do, I know never to piss the bloke off.

Wade Barrett Using the Word Bouncebackability
That made me laugh.
For those of you who don’t know, “bouncebackability” was used by former Crystal Palace manager Iain Dowie during an interview, and it’s one of the few things in life that makes me proud to be British.
Hearing Wade Barrett casually drop it into commentary genuinely made my night.
It’s not a word. It absolutely is not a word. And somehow, we all know exactly what it means.

Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker Ends in a Draw. Kind Of.
Not because it ended in a draw, but because I called it before the match even started.
When you hype something as the bout that will decide who is the future of WWE, there ain’t no way you’re gonna get a straight answer on a glorified house show. Which, let’s face it, is what Sunday Night’s Main Event is.
So, Bronson Reed returns, whacks Oba Femi with a chair, causes the DQ, and now we build towards Money in the Bank in a month’s time.
I fucking knew it.

Cody Rhodes Is a Fucking Idiot
Really, Cody? Really?
Randy Orton, the biggest snake in the grass, the dirtiest player in the game, begs for mercy after doing everything in his power for the last six months to ruin your life, and you give it to him?
You stop? You just stop?
I’m glad he RKO’d you into the middle of next week.
Dumbass.
