UK Doom dealers of emotional devastation Godthrymm are back, and theyโ€™ve just cracked open another piece of their upcoming third album Projections, due May 29th via Profound Lore Records.

The new single, The Sun Never Fell, follows earlier track Truth In My Own, and shifts the focus toward the bandโ€™s more expansive side, still heavy enough to flatten a building, but now stacked with layered melodies and vocal harmonies that feel like theyโ€™re echoing off cathedral walls.

Frontman Hamish Glencross describes the track as a showcase for the bandโ€™s larger, more epic sound, built on dense instrumentation and massive riffs, but with a core idea of light pushing through darkness. So yes, itโ€™s bleak, but itโ€™s bleak with a pulse.

Projections also wraps up a trilogy of sorts, following 2020โ€™s Reflections and 2023โ€™s Distortions. Across those releases, Godthrymm have been quietly (well, loudly) cementing themselves as one of the UKโ€™s more serious Doom outfits, pulling from that classic โ€˜90s British sound without getting stuck in it.

The DNA is obvious. Glencrossโ€™ past with My Dying Bride, along with drummer Shaun Taylor-Steelsโ€™s history with both Anathema and My Dying Bride, means this thing is wired straight into the source. But instead of just replaying the old tapes, Projections pushes outward, larger arrangements, more moving parts, and a wider emotional range without losing that crushing core.

In short: same weight, more layers, and a clear sense that the band are still evolving rather than settling into autopilot.

The Sun Never Fell is out now. Projections lands May 29th.
