Heavy psych voyagers Elder are back in orbit, having unveiled Capture/Release, the second single from their upcoming album Through Zero, landing May 29th via Stickman Records (Europe/UK), Blues Funeral Recordings (North America), and Bird’s Robe (Australia).

This one hits more direct than you might expect. According to vocalist/guitarist Nick DiSalvo, Capture/Release pulls from an older idea and reshapes it into something that bridges past and present, bringing back some of the bandโ€™s heavier riff-driven core while locking into their more galactic sized, modern approach.

Under the hood, thereโ€™s more going on than just big guitars. The track taps into the grind of trying to exist as a creative voice in a system that constantly demands more, more content, more visibility, more noise, until the whole thing starts to feel like a machine you canโ€™t step out of. Capture/Release pushes back against that, circling around the idea of holding onto the original spark: creating because you want to, not because youโ€™re told to.

Itโ€™s also, apparently, just fun to play, which in this context feels almost rebellious.

The upcoming Through Zero stretches across six tracks, continuing Elderโ€™s habit of building songs that donโ€™t just play out, they unfold, twist, and pull in influences from well outside the usual rock toolbox.
