Modern metal outfit A Cold Paradise have shared a new music video for their latest single, Are You Holding Me Back?, offering another preview of their self-titled debut album. The upcoming full-length is scheduled to land on August 28th via PERCEPTION, a division of Reigning Phoenix Music.
The track pushes a volatile mix of crushing heaviness and soaring melodies, leaning into a high-voltage performance that feels deeply personal. It avoids standard genre formulas by focusing on a distinct balance of aggression and emotional tension, a dynamic that the accompanying music video mirrors through stark, raw visual framing.
The theme centers on the invisible emotional prisons people build for themselves out of old promises and memories. Vocalist Antonio Calanna frames the track as a confrontation with the exact moment where love and pain become identical, forcing a difficult choice at an emotional crossroads.
“Some prisons don’t have walls,” Calanna reveals. “Are You Holding Me Back? is about reaching the point where love and pain become impossible to distinguish. It is the voice of someone standing at a crossroads, asking whether the person they love is still walking beside them or quietly holding them back. More than anything, it is a song about courage; the courage to ask difficult questions and face uncomfortable truths.”
