German Black Metal outfit Akantophis has officially joined the Wormholedeath roster, a partnership that begins with the label’s global reissue of the band’s latest album, Erneuerung.​

Blending atmospheric density with dissonant, progressive textures, Akantophis occupies a unique space in the extreme underground. While their sound occasionally dips into the territory of Death Metal, the band views their craft as a tool for inner transformation and artistic renewal rather than simple aggression.

This philosophy is baked into Erneuerung, an album consisting of seven tracks spanning 42 minutes.​

To maintain an organic and visceral energy, the record was captured live at Liquid Aether Audio under the guidance of Mario Dahmen. The lyrics are delivered primarily in German, offering a varied and poetic exploration of the dystopian themes that anchor the band’s modern sound.

​The history of Akantophis stretches back to 1998. After building a name for themselves in the early 2000s with releases like Galaria: Terra@ Exitus, the band entered a long hiatus in 2004. During this time, the members honed their craft in various other projects, including Hidden in the Fog and Throat Cut, before officially reforming in 2017.​

Following the release of the 7-inch Wiederkehr and the 2020 MCD Exitus XX, the band sees this reissue of Erneuerung as the definitive bridge to a wider international audience.​

In a statement regarding the signing, the band expressed their excitement for the new partnership:​
