Shudder has snapped up the rights to Split Rock, the second supernatural horror feature from director Ryan Glover (The Strings), securing distribution across North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.

Shot on 16mm, the film stars Clark Backo and Drew Ray Tanner as a pair of geologists who head into the badlands to investigate a strange anomaly. Naturally, they dig up an ancient entity that immediately starts tormenting them, because geologists in horror movies never just find a nice rock and go home. Olivia Luccardi and Graham Verchere round out the cast.

Split Rock premieres at Sitges today before heading to the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on October 21. Shudder will unleash the film on its streaming platform on Christmas Day, presumably for anyone who prefers bleak badlands dread over watching their relatives fall asleep in front of the telly.
