Canadian atmospheric and melodic black metal outfit Arctos have announced their upcoming full-length album, A Path Apart, set for release through Northern Silence Productions. Formed as a cohesive, continuous listening experience, the record marks the group’s follow-up to their previous release, Beyond the Grasp of Mortal Hands.
The album traces a narrative arc centered on disillusionment, loss, perseverance, and individuality. The thematic progression begins from a state of zealous worship, shifts toward the realization of a hollow existence, and concludes with the decision to break away from established norms.
The composition process coincided with major personal shifts for the band members, including geographical separation when their drummer relocated to Iceland. Production took place over two years across multiple locations, featuring drum tracking by Helgi Durhuus at Stรบdรญรณ Helvรญti in Iceland, bass and vocals at Oracle Studios in Canada, guitar tracking at Frostbitten Basement Cave, and final mixing and mastering by Juho Rรคihรค at Soundspiral Audio in Finland.
A Path Apart arrives on November 6th, 2026 via Northern Silence Productions across digital, CD, and LP formats.
