Any trailer that has the line: “I’m so glad I found you. There’s a crazy man with a chainsaw. Spoiler alert, it’s me” is always going to grab my attention, especially when it makes me spit out my mouthful of coffee due to laughing.

Director Kevin Lewis, the man who gave us Nicolas Cage silently beating the shit out of animatronics in Willy’s Wonderland, is back in his comfort zone of total unhinged madness. His new action-horror comedy Christmas at the Kringles hits theaters on October 30, and the first teaser trailer promises a proper bloodbath.

The premise is straightforward enough. Ron Livingston (The Conjuring, Office Space) and Rachel Bilson (The O.C.) play a couple moving their family into a quiet suburban neighborhood for a fresh start. The problem is their next-door neighbors, the Kringles, who celebrate Christmas 365 days a year. What starts as a mildly annoying gimmick quickly turns weird when the couple realizes the Kringles are essentially running a cult and trying to brainwash their son.

Naturally, things fall apart fast, descending into a chaotic mess of power tools, leather-clad maniacs, and blood on the snow. Written by Zack Imbrogno (Slayers), the cast is ridiculously stacked for a holiday horror flick, roping in Rob Riggle, Arden Myrin, David Wain, Thomas Lennon, Donald Faison, and Violent Night’s Beverly D’Angelo.

Lewis has been looking for something as “zany and bonkers” as Willy’s Wonderland to sink his teeth into, and this looks like it fits the bill. A foul-mouthed, chainsaw-wielding antidote to squeaky-clean holiday cinema? Sign me up.
