Yeon Sang-ho is heading back into outbreak territory with Colony, and this time heโ€™s ditching open chaos for something a lot more contained and a lot more nasty. With the film set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2026, it has been announced that Well Go USA has already lined up to bring it to U.S. theaters on August 28th.

Instead of trains, streets, or wide-scale panic, Colony traps everything inside a single location: a biotech event that goes south faster than you can say ‘Please stop eating my face’. One minute itโ€™s presentations and polite applause, the next itโ€™s lockdown procedures and something spreading that doesnโ€™t care about either.

At the centre is Professor Se-jeong, stuck inside with a group of increasingly desperate survivors as whateverโ€™s been unleashed starts changing people in ways that donโ€™t look reversible. The longer theyโ€™re sealed in, the worse it gets. Not just physically but mentally. Trust starts to crack, panic takes over, and the realisation hits that containment might not be about saving them, it might be about keeping everyone on the outside from harm.

Starring Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Ji Chang-wook, Colony arrives in U.S. theaters August 28th.

The doors sealed. The air is thin. And whateverโ€™s inside isnโ€™t waiting.
