Denmark has long been a breeding ground for exceptional progressive metal, but Kolding-based newcomer Kinetic is already operating on a completely different scale. The band has officially launched Evolution, a massive, eleven-minute lead single from their upcoming debut album, Liminal, which is slated for release on October 16th via Eclipse Records.

Rather than delivering a standard performance clip, the quintet has paired the track with an astonishing, high-concept short film. Directed by the band’s own keyboardist, Marcus H. Levin, the visual companion integrates intense studio performances with breathtaking, remote global footage captured by cinematographer Nick Levin. Featuring stunning backdrops from Africa, Siberut Island, and the active volcanic craters of Dukono, the video serves as a striking visual metaphor for the song’s sprawling concept.

The track itself is a masterclass in modern, atmospheric prog. It rejects standard verse-chorus formulas in favor of a cosmic journey, tracing the universe from the Big Bang through the birth of nature and the rise of humanity. The band utilizes a clever, polarized color scheme to tell this story: serene blues represent the peaceful mystery of early creation, while harsh, contrasting reds signal the inevitable chaos, danger, and destruction that drive change.

According to the band, the track acts as a crucial bridge between the organic world and human expression.

“Evolution represents the broader essence of what we want to communicate,” explains Marcus H. Levin. “It gives us the opportunity to explore evolution not solely as a subject within the album, but as a universal idea connected to life, humanity, nature and ourselves as artists. At its core, we hope the song and video will remind people how extraordinary life on Earth is… The video contrasts beauty with destruction and there is always a tension between harmony and chaos.”
