German metal newcomers Dogtak have announced their debut EP, Shattered Reflection, which will be released on August 21st.

Although the band only formed in 2025, its members bring together years of experience from previous bands and projects. Across six tracks, Shattered Reflection draws together death metal, thrash metal and groove metal, with melodic passages giving the songs added depth without softening their impact.

Dogtak began as a solo project in 2024 when guitarist Björn Condon started writing instrumental material. As more musicians came on board, Dogtak took shape with the addition of vocalist Alex Ritzenhoff, drummer Gero Samrey, guitarist Sören “Rippy” Schwartau and bassist Basti Doell. Following a series of demo singles and the band’s live debut in February, Shattered Reflection becomes Dogtak’s first official release.

Recorded between March and May, the EP captures a band still defining its sound while confidently bringing together its varied influences. For a debut release, Shattered Reflection makes a solid first impression and establishes the direction Dogtak intend to follow.
