Dutch technical death metal project Mystical Death are preparing to release their debut full-length album, Across. Originally debuting independently in late 2024 with their Carnation EP, which was later picked up and reissued with extra material the following year, the project now steps up to a full-length format.

Operated entirely as a solo endeavor by central figure Mystic, who handled writing, performance, production, mixing, mastering, and visual art, the album attempts to weld old-school death metal aggression onto convoluted progressive structures. The result is a dense, highly compressed collection of tracks that shift abruptly between technical riffs, sudden tempo breaks, and unexpected instrumentation.

Lead single Apophenia establishes the template, snapping between straight-ahead death metal blasting and loose instrumental detours. Elsewhere, the tracklist leans heavily on jarring genre contrasts, incorporating saxophone leads and smooth jazz motifs alongside the aggressive vocal delivery on Empathy, before cycling through erratic time signatures on Thalassa and closing out with an instrumental, classical-tinged finale titled Sanctus.

Across drops November 6th.
