Oulu-based melodic death metal crew Morbid Intent have announced their debut EP Marionettes, set for release on 16 October 2026 via Inverse Records.

Featuring musicians who have already put in time with the likes of Mors Subita, Electric Deathbeat, Swansong, and Se, Josta Ei Puhuta, the Finnish group aren’t exactly green.

Musically, Morbid Intent are aiming straight for classic Gothenburg-style melodeath, stacking up fast blast beats, heavy-handed riffs, and cold melodies, all spiked with a hit of modern extreme metal aggression.

For anyone who still holds a candle for that mid-90s Swedish sound delivered with Finnish grit, Marionettes looks well worth a listen when it lands mid-October.
