Brace yourselves, because the King of the Monsters has just booked a one-way ticket to New York.

The first teaser for Godzilla Minus Zero has stomped its way out of CinemaCon in Las Vegas, offering a brief but very loud reminder that when Godzilla travels, he does not pack light.

The footage builds to a money shot that feels almost illegal in its audacity, Godzilla casually striding past the Statue of Liberty like heโ€™s late for an appointment and Manhattan is about to pay the price.

Directed once again by Takashi Yamazaki, who returns after handling writing, directing, and VFX duties on Godzilla Minus One, the sequel is set in 1949, two years after the previous filmโ€™s events. That places it firmly in a still-recovering post-war world, which already feels like a bad time to introduce a skyscraper-sized problem with anger issues.

Returning cast members Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe reprise their roles as Kลichi Shikishima and Noriko ลŒishi, suggesting the human story isnโ€™t getting lost under several thousand tons of radioactive attitude.

And hereโ€™s a fun little milestone: Godzilla Minus Zero marks the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX, which basically means every footstep, roar, and building-leveling tantrum is about to be delivered at maximum scale. Subtlety is not invited. Subtlety was never invited.

The film will hit North American theatres on November 6th, 2026, courtesy of GKIDS, continuing Tohoโ€™s long-running monster legacy, this being the 34th Godzilla film since 1954. At this point, Godzilla isnโ€™t just a character, heโ€™s a culture all of his own.

Of course, thereโ€™s already a question hanging in the air: is this a quiet attempt to redeem Godzillaโ€™s last trip to New York? Because anyone who still has flashbacks to Roland Emmerichโ€™s 1998 version knows that particular visit didnโ€™t exactly go down as a historic win.

This time, though, the tone looks very different. Heavier. Meaner. Less ‘confused iguana caught in traffic’ and more ‘unstoppable force with a personal grudge against architecture’. Itโ€™s early days, but if this teaser is anything to go by, Godzilla Minus Zero isnโ€™t just expanding the scale, itโ€™s aiming straight for total urban annihilation, with IMAX screens acting as the unfortunate witnesses.

New York, you might want to start running now.
