Grain of Pain have officially unleashed their second full-length, Behind Us All, which dropped in March via Noble Demon. The vinyl edition took the scenic route getting here, but itโs now finally landed, heavy in every sense of the word.
To go with it, the band have rolled out an animated lyric video for If Morning Never Comes, featuring Kirsten Jรธrgensen, a track that leans straight into the bandโs whole ‘crushing weight meets actual feelings’ approach.
Behind Us All pushes deeper into that space Grain of Pain have been carving out, doom and death metal stitched together with melody and atmosphere. Itโs dense, itโs emotional, and it sticks around long after itโs finished doing its damage.
At the centre of it all is Timo Solonen, handling songwriting, guitars, and vocals, while Lars Eikind (of Before The Dawn) brings bass and clean vocals into the mix, adding a sharper melodic contrast to the weight. The lineup is rounded out by Juho Rรคihรค on guitars and additional vocals, and Juuso Raatikainen on drums, both known for their work with Swallow the Sun, which should give you a pretty good idea of the weather forecast here.
Following their 2024 signing with Noble Demon for their debut The Moon Lights The Way, this second album sees Grain of Pain doubling down, bigger sound, deeper atmosphere, and no interest in doing anything halfway.
The albumโs out now. The vinylโs finally here. If you like your music heavy enough to leave a dent, you know what to do.
