Greh has just dropped Summoning Aversion, giving us the first look at their upcoming album The Tyranny of Expectations due in early 2027.

Itโ€™s a pretty sharp turn for the German trio; theyโ€™ve moved away from their Doom roots to lean into a much harsher mix of Black Metal and atmospheric synths. Itโ€™s stripped back to the essentials, just one guitar, drums, and vocals, but the sound theyโ€™ve built is incredibly dense, balancing raw aggression with a dissonant groove that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard.โ€‹

The track gets pretty heavy under the surface, too. Lyrically, itโ€™s an exploration of what happens when you bottle things up. It follows the path of repressed anger and mistrust, showing how that defensive walls-up attitude can eventually turn inward. What starts as a way to protect yourself from the world slowly decays into a self-destructive kind of isolation where your own mind and body become the targets.

โ€‹Itโ€™s been an interesting road for the band since Gjero Krsteski started it as a solo project in 2022 after leaving Hellgreaser. Once Maurice Mรผller and Martin Kocula joined in 2023, they really hit their stride as a live act, touring through Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands with bands like Arkona and Morast. If their debut Dysphoric Devotion was about finding their footing, Summoning Aversion feels like theyโ€™ve fully embraced a bleaker, more uncompromising intensity.

Summoning Aversion is available now.
