Greh has just dropped Summoning Aversion, giving us the first look at their upcoming album The Tyranny of Expectations due in early 2027.
Itโs a pretty sharp turn for the German trio; theyโve moved away from their Doom roots to lean into a much harsher mix of Black Metal and atmospheric synths. Itโs stripped back to the essentials, just one guitar, drums, and vocals, but the sound theyโve built is incredibly dense, balancing raw aggression with a dissonant groove that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard.โ
The track gets pretty heavy under the surface, too. Lyrically, itโs an exploration of what happens when you bottle things up. It follows the path of repressed anger and mistrust, showing how that defensive walls-up attitude can eventually turn inward. What starts as a way to protect yourself from the world slowly decays into a self-destructive kind of isolation where your own mind and body become the targets.
โItโs been an interesting road for the band since Gjero Krsteski started it as a solo project in 2022 after leaving Hellgreaser. Once Maurice Mรผller and Martin Kocula joined in 2023, they really hit their stride as a live act, touring through Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands with bands like Arkona and Morast. If their debut Dysphoric Devotion was about finding their footing, Summoning Aversion feels like theyโve fully embraced a bleaker, more uncompromising intensity.
Summoning Aversion is available now.
