Modern metalcore collective HumanKind have dropped their new single, Runaway, taken from their upcoming second studio album, Perfect World.
Following previous singles Desire To Die, Humans, The Darkness I Own, Drain Me, and their cover of Billie Eilish’s Lovely (featuring Enemy Inside vocalist Nastassja), the track serves as the final preview of the new record. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay, Sawdust Recordings), Perfect World builds on the band’s blend of metalcore breakdowns, cinematic atmospheres, and melodic hooks established on their debut album, An End, Once And For All.

Thematically, Runaway examines avoidance as a survival mechanism, addressing emotional numbness, isolation, and withdrawal under severe mental weight. Speaking on the concept behind the track, the band shared:
“Runaway explores avoidance as a survival mechanism. Sometimes emotional pain becomes so overwhelming that escaping reality feels easier than confronting it. The lyrics describe someone slowly withdrawing from life, convinced they no longer belong anywhere. Frozen imagery, disappearing light and endless snow create an atmosphere of emotional numbness, illustrating how depression often manifests not through sadness but through complete emotional disconnection.”
Runaway is out now, with Perfect World scheduled for release on December 4th, 2026, via ROAR โ A Division Of Reigning Phoenix Music.
