The depths of Norway are hiding something ancient and hungry in the new teaser for Kraken. Taking a page out of the creature feature playbook, the film centers on a series of disturbing events in the country’s deepest fjord.

It begins with the bizarre behavior of wild salmon, but quickly escalates into a string of mysterious and gruesome deaths that lead back to a terrifying conclusion: the legendary multi-armed monster of myth has returned.

​Directed by Pål Øie, who previously claustrophobically trapped audiences in The Tunnel, this new thriller looks to turn the vast open waters of Scandinavia into a graveyard. The screenplay, a collaborative effort by Vilde Eide, Kjersti Jelen Rasmussen, and Natasha Arthur, portrays a beast that is sensitive to both movement and sound, ready to pulverize anything that crosses its path.​

The film features a strong cast of Nordic talent, including Sara Khorami, Mikkel Bratt Silset, and Øyvind Brandtzæg. While the teaser is designed to heighten the mystery, it clearly promises a high-stakes battle between modern man and a primordial force of nature.​

Samuel Goldwyn Films is set to unleash Kraken on June 12th, with the film hitting select theaters and digital platforms simultaneously.
